About Colbert
Colbert Washington over the years has gained a reputation for being a great place to raise a family. With a near perfect mix of rural and agricultural style living yet just miles away from the City of Spokane, one could say that Colbert Washington just may be the perfect spot for people who are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of in town living, but still want the convenience of being near by.
Community
Much of Colbert Washington’s terrain is beautiful rural landscape, with mountainous backdrops. Farming done in the Colbert area includes dry land wheat, barley, canola, peas, lentils, hay, and several fruit orchards. One of the large attractions in the Colbert area is Green Bluff, which is nestled at the foothills of Mt. Spokane. It is divided into two loops of farms, the East and the West. The farms offer a wide variety of fruits and vegetables either picked or U-Pick. There are other unique items such as wineries, antiques, an alpaca ranch, a landscape nursery, U-Pick lavender, Homemade Italian Food and U-Cut Christmas Trees.
Schools
Children who live in Colbert attend either Colbert Elementary School or Midway Elementary School, both of which, along with Shiloh Hills Elementary, feed into the newly formed Mountainside Middle School (previously Mead Middle School), which feeds into Mt. Spokane High School, which is part of the Mead School District, which enrolls approximately 9000 students in two high schools, two middle schools, and seven elementary schools. The district also has an alternative high school and is building a new elementary school.
Additionally, the K-12 private school Northwest Christian is located in Colbert. Northwest Christian was founded in 1949, and their men's basketball team has won the 2B High School tournament the past four years.
